A huge revolution is taking place in the tech sector

While the statistics may suggest the tech sector is lagging behind in terms of closing the gender gap, some of the industry’s leading female figures believe a revolution is taking place behind the scenes.
Figures have claimed that despite the digital skills gap being expected to reach 1m workers by 2020, only 17 per cent of people working in the tech sector are women. With this in mind, we talked to some inspiring female leaders, including Girls Who Code founder Reshma Saujani, AT&T executive director Stephanie Lynch-Habib and JJ DiGeronimo, president of Tech Savvy Women, to find out their take on whether the industry was closing the gap.
What we found was a large amount of female coders, companies taking pledges to hire more women in tech and numerous girls-in-STEM initiatives.
