Best practices from around the world which could close the gap

The gender pay gap in the UK remains at 19.2 per cent, with the country having fallen from ninth to 26th spot in the World Economic Forum’s “most unequal” global ranking. With that in mind, what can we learn from peers able to achieve more success abroad?
“I think every woman in this room has the same question. What’s the hold-up?” famously asked Bloomberg Television anchor Stephanie Ruhle, as she looked at two male C-level executives on either side of her at the World Economic Forum. The hold-up she was referring to is the glacial speed of improvement in gender equality in the workplace.
However, different countries across the globe have been stuck at various levels – with some finding more success than others. This was of debate at our annual First Women Awards, as panelists used examples from more equal countries to try to bridge the UK’s gender gap.
